Book Great The of watch out

Although it has a large face and that takes some getting used to, it’s great! You really want the larger screen so that during the run you can easily see the data. My fear in buying it was that I would become too “gadget-y” and it may serve more as a distraction during my runs. Instead I’m able to completely focus on my run without having to think about when my next interval is, or how far I’ve gone, or how fast I’m going. I love having my training runs tracked and recorded too. The program on the computer that allows you to synch and view your runs could be updated, but it serves well the purposes advertised. I was able to use the out and back feature while hiking in Tennessee. I got a little turned around and didn’t know which way would take me back to my car so I set the watch to guide me back to the start; the watch displayed the trail I’d walked and where I was in relation to the start. It guided me right back to my car. Amazing! That could really be a lifesaver for hikers. Highly recommended!!

Read about In Deli Save the now

I have almost two years of experience using my Hoover SteamVac Carpet Clearner. My carpets are cream color which is a good test as to how well a carpet cleaning machine works. This machine is GREAT. Just cleaning my carpets myself with great results has saved me a lot of money on hiring a professional carpet cleaning company. I feel that my carpets come out as clean as if I did hire a professional. My investment sure has paid for itself many times over.

I’m serious. I got fed up reading the book, took a few days off, and then when I finally got up the nerve to slog through the rest, I tried to look it up on my computer for a good HALF HOUR because it sounded like something a fourteen-year-old had posted on [...].

Then I remembered that it was a “real” book. Whoops.

I read this travesty because I work at a high school and I teach writing. And a (very) small part of me is glad that I did read it… because now I know why there are so many abysmal examples of “love stories” out there.

The biggest problem with Meyer’s book? The characters have no personalities. There is no reason to care about them. The narrator is someone who complains about everything–even when people are *nice* to her–and her only achievement in 500 pages is that she catches the eye of some super-hot boy. Edward is described as being so perfect you can’t even remotely identify with him, and all he does is whine about his tortured psyche and tell Bella what to do. As a couple, they do nothing but awkwardly snark at each other and provide examples of horrendous communication skills… not exactly the paradigm of relationships that I’d want to expose to teenagers.

Besides that… there’s really no plot. Like, none. And the writing is painfully amaturish. A brief summary/example: Bella moves. Bella hates moving. Bella goes to school. Bella sees Edward. Bella is inexplicably attracted to Edward. Bella and Edward creepily stalk and obsess over each other. Around page 400, some random vampire decides to come after Bella after an awkward and contrived confrontation, thereby creating a reason for “drama.”

In summary, I failed to see anything even a little romantic about these two sorry excuses for individuals, and it honestly frightens me that so many young people think this is an example of what a loving relationship is supposed to look like. Kids, your boyfriend should not ignore your opinions or physically drag you around against your will or sneak

Watch G Baby Ladies for you

When ordering I read many reviews and figured…for $3 a piece what do I have to lose? I lost signal from my HD DVR is what I lost. Now I am stuck having to go get another cable. This cable only worked for 4 days. While watching a movie the screen all of a sudden went blank on my Samsung 750 and said “No Signal”. Basically what this means is that when a digital cable loses it’s integrity you lose your signal. The TV still recognized that there was a cable plugged in but was not receiving any signal from my DVR. I have thrown this away and am buying a better cable. It’s not worth the hassle to repackage, go to the post office, pay for shipping and wait for a new one. I bought 3 of these and they all now reide in the bottom of my trash can! Please don’t believe the hype and buy something else. $3 is not worth ruining your TV by getting an annoying flicker and signal loss. Spend $20 and buy a cable that you won’t have to worry about.

My Book Western Digital for you

I began using the WD My Book World Edition (2 x 2TB) [hence "MBWE"] in its default RAID 1 mirrored configuration. Out of the box one of the drives showed a “degraded” status, and there were log entries about thermal problems and undocumented error messages directly from its *nix OS. Regarding the thermal errors, the MBWE was situated in a well-ventilated location in an unheated room that never exceeded 65F degrees during the timeframe I’m referencing.

While fiddling with the MBWE to resolve this condition, I changed it to RAID 0 and the degraded status and errors went away. I then restored the RAID 1 configuration, and MBWE kept its Normal status and remained error-free. Since then the MBWE seems to be functioning properly, and I’ve copied over 500GB to it without incident. I perform a comparison against the original files after every copy operation to help confirm MBWE’s reliability.

So, my rating for the MBWE would be 1-star for my out-of-the-box experiences, 4-stars for how well it’s performed after I eliminated(?) the problems being reported, and an overall 3-star rating because I still have doubts about its overall reliability.

Plot: Human and vampire fall in love.
Why I Read It: I had to. I’m a librarian and I was doing a Twilight Program.
Why I’m Writing This: Over 3,000 people have strong enough opinions about this book to write reviews about it. What is it about TWILIGHT and the whole “supe” phenomena that generates so much fascination?

The most difficult thing in constructing a romance plot is creating a device that keeps the lovers apart. When there’s love at first glance, and the characters fall and fall heavy for each other, what spins out the tension? You have to hand it to Ms. Meyers (and to Charlaine Harris), that for one of the characters to be human and the other…not, is a great twist. This makes for excellent romance.

But more importantly, is it possible that the recent fascination for vampires and supernaturals is due to our human need to talk about differences in ethnic groups WITHOUT actually talking about ethnic groups? Instead of working with tired racial stereotypes, we can invent new fantasy ones. Vampires? They do tend to be a little Heathcliffish toward the human race, don’t they? (I’m talking about the Bronte hero, not the cartoon animal.) Werewolves? Lovable but not too smart, and awfully apt to get into bar fights. Fairies? Can’t trust ‘em.

So congratulations to Meyers (and Charlaine Harris) for freshening up the vampire/werewolf mythology so beautifully. They’ve altered a tired old Bela Lugosi cliche into sets of romance novels that have enthralled a lot of readers, and that’s a good thing.
